Let me introduce myself in more depth …
My name is Leanne Swann, I am married with 3 daughters, and live here in Newquay, Cornwall.
Before embarking on a career as an acupuncturist I worked many years within the Aerospace and Nuclear industry. I enjoyed work and had great work colleagues, unfortunately despite life going so well I battled with my Mental Health for a few years, trying all the usual things such as anti-depressants, attended the gym and improved my diet and work/life balance.
I came across Acupuncture treatments whilst working in Kent, and was amazed at how different I felt afterwards, emotionally, mentally and physically. A few years later I found myself enquiring about studying acupuncture, at the time unaware that there was different styles and schools of acupuncture.
I studied Traditional and Five Element Acupuncture at The Acupuncture Academy, Royal Leamington Spa, United Kingdom. Completing a 3 year degree level professional licentiate in Acupuncture, including time working within Liskeard, Cornwall under the supervision of Helen Pinguey.
This is very different to doing a short course in dry needling as an example, although we also learned dry needling skills during the musculoskeletal studies. It is a very comprehensive course covering in depth knowledge of both ancient Chinese medicine and theory as well as Western medicine.
When I first started to practice in Newquay, I worked from my home-based clinic within Central Newquay, where I obtained my License to practice from Cornwall Council. I called the practise Leanne Swann Acupuncture. The popularity of the acupuncture and cupping services quickly increased the capacity I had available from my home-based clinic.
I expanded one small step at a time by providing a multi-bed or community acupuncture on a Monday evening from the Methodist Church ‘The Hub’ at Nansledan. Again, the popularity of these sessions increased, and I added on a Wednesday evening to the schedule too.
Early in 2024 I completed my qualifications in Phlebotomy with Phlebotomy Training Services and started to provide venipuncture or Blood work services as part of E-Val blood analysis. I felt like this was a great way to improve the accessibility of getting blood test samples within the local area.
Within the first year of practising in Newquay an ideal opportunity arose to run a larger, bespoke treatment facility which I chose to call Peaceful Point. The name reflects many things for me. Following time in the treatment room many of the patients communicate an increased sense of being at Peace, no matter how big a challenge they are facing, and for me to have a place of work set up perfectly, provides a sense of peace and focus as the practitioner.
So here we are today, I look forward to extending a warm welcome to you when you arrive, and hope you find the space and treatments provide you with your own true sense of peace.
